Well...maybe Ignition. SNK seems somewhat indifferent unless the squeaky wheel starts acting up.

The time for Ignition to convince SNK to use GGPO has come early. Shane Bettenhausen has already expressed interest in using this middleware, which is loved by the entire fighting game community (including 500 Chinese players in the KOF98 rooms every day!), in future games from SNK. But it seems 'The Future is Now', as SNK used to say. For those working at Ignition, please contact Ponder, aka Tony Cannon, the creator of GGPO. He would be more than happy to help you. Here is his user page on SRK, although I'm sure you know of more personal ways to reach him.

Go Ignition! Heads NEED TO ROLL! As a long time Capcom Fanboy and fighting game junkie. I can't tell you how many times I've had to defend KOF's rep as opposed to the other fighters out there.

When the 2009 fighter line-up was announced, sure I wanted to play SF 4 but KOF's "RE-BIRTH" really caught my attention! Finally I thought, after all the years of re-used sprites running the MVS hardware into the ground, KOF gets a face lift that out does the mighty Gaoru! Graphics that match the gameplay! NEXTGEN!

In short, I was more excited about this game than all the competition after I just started getting used to 3D fighters! Sure SF4 brought back Cammy and Fei Long (My 2 fave SF2 characters), But once I saw Kyo, Terry, and the Lovely Leona's new incarnation, it was no contest.

Yeah I bought Blazblue (mainly cuz everyone started to move off SF4) and don't get me wrong it's a great game in it's own right. But KOF was the little engine that could. Using sprites again was a ballzy (and costly) move, so that they went the extra mile to "keep it old-school" I was witcha!

The DLC means NOTHING (I don't care if Mai has an EFFING NUDE CODE) if we can't even play the guy next door without any hiccups. So don't bother with K' ,Yuri, Kula, or whoever until this issue is resolved!

In all honesty, I've been around long enough to remember the only "extra" a home port of a fighter would give you was the option of FREE PLAY and VERSUS mode. (people were more concerned with missing animations) So like I said that shite takes a back seat to playability.

I know BlazBlue's EPIC Netcode set a high bar, but I at least expected Soul Calibur/DOA4 level of connectivity.

I'm still with you, but I won't play the battered wife for too much longer.

That is all.

GGPO is the netcode KOFXII needs. It is the best netcode available, and nothing else even comes close. Attempts to emulate it have failed miserably, only the original will suffice.

GGPO netcode literally allows international online play, far better than most netcodes allow within the same city.

Please, PLEASE utilize GGPO netcode in KOFXII.

Thank you so much Ignition for taking the time to do this. I haven't really heard of a game publisher that went to these sorts of lengths to please their fanbase. Hopefully SNK will listen and get it together. Like many said here, let them tear down the online and add GGPO into it. I just had 5 straight matches with very, VERY little lag, but it could still be improved, and all 5 were against the same person. GGPO would fix it.

I just hope they can fix the online and bugs first. Then, we'll see about added modes, features and such (1-on-1 online, 6-player 3-on-3, etc.).

Welp, I guess people like GGPO a lot. If it's indeed the best netcode and easy to obtain, then by all means, do it.

I did not early purchase KoFXII due to fears about the netcode (recent XBLA releases had set a poor precedent) and upon release it was shown that my fears were not unfounded. However, I would be happy to purchase this game if it had GGPO netcode. Netcode is a dealbreaker for many of your target audience, myself included, and there really is no way to get around that requirement. Putting GGPO into the game would help remove some of the egg from your face, rebuilding the damage this release has done and definitely warranting a purchase from my self and undoubtedly others.

Thanks for this thread and as others are said, this release has been frankly disasterous and Ignition can only be very angry along with everyone else. So yeah lets not settle for second best and gun for what the fans want and the community needs. Here's hoping it's not too late but SNK have a lot to make up for.

Lets get that netcode.

I am a hardcore SNK fan and this is my first one playing online. I find it hard to find a local person to me who is actually competent enough for me to play all out so online was a selling factor... and then it lags horribly on some matches and plays beautifully on others. Fix this please.

Also... I don't care what anyone else says... I NEED MAI!

Fix the current characters moves list and give them back their moves. Give us some extra characters because frankly... SNK released TONS of characters throughout the years and now... they take away half of them? And I am completely amazed you took away Mai! However, Andy being back is a nice addition.

Cliffs.
1. Fix online.
2. Fix characters already available (moves mainly)
3. Give us back some of the old characters... in a patch maybe? Please?
