Sadly no. We originally were going to use that as a special flip side for the current cover but that ended up not happening.

We are currently using this artwork for the US cover:

That is pretty cool still. I hope that when you guys get around to 2002 Unlimited Match you will also release that with the same cover as the Japanese version. I also like how we had a really nice cover for the Orochi Saga here too. Its not often that the US has as nice as game covers as the Japanese counter part.

Well I hate to ruin the fun but don't expect to see KoF 98: UM XBLA (Or MS7 XBLA) until sometime in 2010.

We do appreciate the feedback and info regarding the netcode. We understand that having online play with a solid netcode is incredibly important to fighting games and will pass on all suggestions to SNKP JP.

Feel free to continue with the discussion and suggestions. We are listening.

Hello everyone and MegaXtreme it's me Hanzo and i'm psyched about KOF '98 UM.

Dude, good to see some SNK forum vets showing up. Now this place is starting to feel like home. :)

I do hope this pick this up this weekend. I don't think I'm getting it in at work (we never get the budget releases from SNKP nor Ignition), but I'm positive my Gamestop will have it, so I'll pick it up then. This looks like a must-have, considering it comes with a CD-ROM and a poster just like Metal Slug 7 did.

Just bought this yesterday. Great game, they did a nice job with it. It has 3D esque backgrounds, which add a nice Capcom VS SNK 2 feel to the game. There's a ton of modes and stuff, too. A nice well-rounded package. I'm going to have to hang the KOFXII poster that came with the game on my wall. Too awesome.

Overall, nice work SNKP and Ignition! Great port.

with that said, i would love to support ignition and SNK by purchasing KoF 98 UM but no one has it for sale. the closest retail store that has it in stock is over 100 miles away. (and im strongly considering making the drive) why didnt any stores get this game?

The UM intro is pretty similar to 98s original intro. The music is redid and the beginning part is sped up to add in more clips of the new characters and what not.

I recommend getting the soundtrack. It's basically a KOF's Greatest Hits Album.

I don't know how many of you follow tournaments for fighting games or what not but I recently found out that as Sagat is to SF4 (Not being broken or over powered but just has so much that makes him really good) the same thing applies to Wolfgang Krauser in 98 UM. He is really tough to beat because he does a lot of damage. So for those waiting on the XBLA version just be weary of people tier whoring him out.

I pretty much like this but the real question is which is the superior product between this and 2002 UM both are equal to me I really appreciate SNK for doing these type of revamps to their classic games!

You might want to take this with a grain of salt as information seems to change quite a bit but I've been updated regarding XBLA KoF 98 UM which may now be coming out sooner than once thought. Again, take that with a grain of salt though.
