I've heard so much negative stuff about the localization, and from previous experiences with Lux Pain and Muramasa (which Ignition made tedious and boring), I can't say that I'm surprised.

Anyway, there's the option to turn off voices, so I'd most definitely would go without voices if I were to buy this game.

How's the script and dialogue though? Does it ruin the game? Mediocre? Good?

The game sounds and looks interesting, but should I really throw my money at a company who gives nothing back?

And, Ignition, please, please, please, please don't ruin El Shaddai.

It's a really good RPG. And the script and dialog is pretty good.

You might get lucky and only dislike about 1 or 2 of the voices. Like me :D

In any case, I would play without voices. I mean, even in games with good voiceovers or japanese voicovers I always skip the dialogue anyway. I just press the quick-text button, cause I get easily bored.

Although I haven't played Lux Pain, if you found Muramasa to be tedious and boring, I wouldn't throw the blame at Ignition or any of the game's localization. Having played the game in Japanese and seen the difficulty of the classical Japanese expressions used, there's nothing "exciting" that could have really been throw in there to spice things up. I was pretty damn impressed with it, and the decision to leave the Japanese audio in the game was the icing on the cake.

The dialog is absolutely fine - it's just unfortunate that the voice acting can come off as pretty stilted and underwhelming. Just keep in mind that it'll be a little strange watching characters move their mouths during a battle victory animation, with absolutely nothing being said.

Feel free to create your own victory phrase and say it for them. I'm sure they'd like that. (That's what I did.)

I think it's pretty unfair to characterize Ignition as a company that "doesn't give anything back." Understanding a bit of what goes into the development and localization of Japanese titles, I can tell you that the people at Ignition did the absolute best work they could to provide the best experience possible to American audiences. No one involved with a title like this "lazily" makes any poor decisions, and they undoubtedly made the best choices they could to make the game attractive to English-speaking audiences. Ignition's composed of smart people that are as hardcore as gamers come, and trust me, they've heard your criticisms.

Besides, without Ignition, we wouldn't have Deadly Premonition. And that would be awful.

In terms of Arc Rise's quality, it's an incredibly hardcore, beautiful JRPG, and one that I'm happy to have played. Turn the voices off and give it a shot - you'll be happy with how solid it is. Warning though - it's pretty damn hard.

And I wouldn't worry about El Shaddai. The hands involved with that game - which is being developed in-house - will do their best to deliver a great localization. Have faith. (Pun completely intended.) :D
