and i have to say, this is a great collection.all the SamSho games are good in there own way.my favirotes are SS2,SS3,and SS6.alot of people usually have negative things to say about SS6,but it was my favirote game on the collection.great artwork and music, all of the old characters return and you can play as the bosses and the new characters are pretty cool too.:D i give the collection 10 out of 10 i really am enjoying it,i have some questions though.

Was the baby that Zankuro couldn't kill in SS3 a part of the SamSho universe?

Is Mai a hidden character in SamSho and why was she in Haohmaru's ending?

Why does the earlier SamSho games have the same level-design in each game?

i would appreciate it if someone could answers my questions,if not it's all good.

I believe that baby that Zankuro didn't kill was Shizumaru.

Mai's just an easter egg/cameo in Haohmaru's SS1 ending. There's no way to play as her.

What do you mean by level design? Like individual stages made for each character?

wow thanks man for the info, much appreciated thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.:D Shizumaru is one of my favirote characters.yeah i mean the individual character levels, there levels had little to no change.i mean, most fighting games would change the character stages all together. but in SamSho the levels are like EXACTLY the same.i have no problem with this,i just found it kinda odd.i think only 1 or 2 games that the levels changed.

the sam sho games were supposed to represent seasonal changes.... the story takes place over ONE year or so, so the BG's are essentially the same but change with a seasonal look. aka, one nokoruru stage in snow, one in spring, etc....

hmmm, now that i look at it that way you do make good points and that is a good reason.thanks for your time too.:D is SS5 a prequel? it was set place before SS1 i think.and is SS6 canon? no storyline or timeline either. sorry for all the questions, but my SamSho knowledge is pretty good, but not perfect.:o

and another question i have, how many times will Wan-Fu change weapons?LOL first a large sword, then a huge stone-pillar,then a iron stick with a ball at the end. and isn't Gaira Cafuin Nicotine's grandson? i think i read that one on The Fighters Generation.:D

Okay if they didnt explain it let me explain the level design

Haomaru = Based after Miyamoto Musashi
Ukyo = Based after Kojiro Genryu/Ganryu Sasaki

Their stage = The Island Stage Gairyu/Genryu/Ganryu Isle

Has two versions night and day it's where Musashi's last duel took place pretty major place in Japanese history thats why you see that stage a lot in SS.

o ok,thanks Alba.:D i know alot of SamSho characters are based off of real samurai and real people.wasn't Miyamoto Musashi known to use 2 swords? i think i played a game called Ganryu before,it may have been a 2-D fighter or side-scroller.i can't remember.i wondered why Ukyo caughed alot? didn't they say he had tuberculocis or something? and how did Jubei lose his eye? sorry for all the questions again. :o

I haven't gotten this yet I think I'll pick it up when KOF XII comes out. I always loved SamSho the only other weapons fighter I equally enjoy is The Last Blade. I think the SamSho anthology is a must for my game collection and any gamer out there who enjoys a good 2D fighter.

Ganryu
Ninja Masters
The Last Blade
Samurai Shodown
Soul Caliber
WeaponLord
and it looks like SamSho:EOD will be on this list also.:D

How is weapon lord?

it's a 2-D fighter for the SNES,it was made by Namco.it's basicly a 2-D Soul Caliber but it is a pretty advanced game for it's time i think it was made like in 1994 or something like that.some people say that Soul Caliber is a sequel to Weapon Lord but don't quote me on that.:D both games are made by the same company so it could be a possible connection.

On one of your questions...

I know Mai is a easter egg because SS is set 100's of years before KOF or AOF.

Theres a catch though... Gen An is a Shiranui. When everyone was playing Neo games 24/7 most of us thought it he was her elder from way past.

There both Shiranui's:cool:

If you want Nitto Ryu (Two Weapons ) Musashi then look up The Last Blade 1 and 2 he's in that game under the alias Akatsuki Musashi a midboss in the first and vs only in the second

yeah i already knew Gen-An was a Shiranui and that he is related to Mai.i just always wondered how:confused:.LOL Gen-An looks nothing like Mai,and Gen-An is troll like and Mai is beatiful.i just always wondered how could they possibly be related.it's an odd match. maybe it comes from Gen-An's wife because she looks more human then Gen-An does. it's funny though when Jubei says "no,i am NOT related to the guy from Fatal Fury!"LOL!

SS is one of the few SNK games with a storyline that doesn't follow the order of releases. The breakdown is 5/0, 1, 3, 4, 2, 64, and Warriors Rage (Hyper NG64 Version). 5/0 SP adds no storyline elements and 6 is a Dream Match affair. RPG covers the first 2 and 3 a little but have no weight on the storyline at all. I have no clue what EOD brings to the table but that shall be answered soon enough.

You're right about that, kinda. Since 6 doesn't contribute anything to the storyline even though it has one, it can still be wrote off as a Dream Match. It's story delves more into the What If? instead of that actually happened.

Yeah while it's a festival game it still has endings and a story.

My brother also had luck into getting the PS2 version, but he didn't get it.

I guess that the PS2 version of Samurai Shodown: Anthology is rare.

SS6 is a stand alone game with an individual storyline. It is a dream match, so it doesn't fit anywhere in the SS timeline. The same is also true for SS5 Special. Edge of Destiny takes place shortly after SS64-2 Asura Zanmaden.

I got mine online through a distributor about a month after it was released in the USA. It's harder to find a copy unless you go online now.

i did the same thing as you did,i waited and looked in stores for the PS2 version of SSA for atleast 2 months before ordering the game online,i waited for play-and-trade to order it like for 2 or 3 weeks, but they never came threw, they kept saying they were going to order it,they wrote my name down and everything, they told me they were going to order it for me,then i went in play-and-trade like 3 weeks later and they said they haven't ordered it yet, they must have forgot or something.....they are a good store otherwise and they have alot of titles Gamestop dosen't have(although usually at slightly higher prices),but that experience put a slightly bad taste in my mouth from them though and i haven't been back to them since.now that you mention it,i DID see the PSP and Wii versions of SSA in stores, mostly Gamestop, but i never saw the PS2 versions in stores though.

I've never actually seen it in a brick and mortar store ...

I'll check out CD Universe for future purchases too ...
