Now that brings us to KoF's biggest rivalry, Kyo vs Iori. A battle that has raged since 1995. Who is the better man?

Just to kind of throw the topic off topic but I find this question funny now because of Ash Crimson's part in the story line. He sort of did best both of them in 03 and XI. Annnnd back on topic my vote is for Kyo.

i vote for Kyo. Iori has some incredible, untapped potential. however, kyo has yet to reveal his true power either. both Kusanagi and Yagami bloodlines have great power but i believe due to Iori's uncontrollable rage, Kyo would best him.

Iori, since 94', I felt Kyo was a pretty generic design, but I recognise it has improven over the sagas, but when Iori popped up, it was a very original design, and I love it's voice actor's voice :p .


Besides, in any fictional character I think it's more entertaining when the character has a more compex personality, example:

Kyo: he's is a good person, he's always been good, he always makes good thinks = boring.

Iori: seems to be kind of a lunatic and sadist person who actually wants to kill someone for an unknown reason, he seems what anybody could call as "evil", but, nevertheless he chose to defeat the crazy guy who wanted to destroy the world,= interesting. (too bad SNK-P peopple don't exploit the character's personality and keep him always the same and never say why he wants to kill someone and so on :rolleyes: .)


Also, you have to recognise that if it weren't becauseof the rivaity with Iori, and now with the Ash issue, Kyo wouldn't have a very origina story over the games.

So I choose Iori Yagami :) .

gameplay-wise,i think Iori has a slight edge.but as for as storyline power goes.i think Kyo is stronger.so i voted for Kyo

i totally agree,i love Kyo's school boy outfit,better than the outfit introduced in KOF 99.:p that's what i love about Terry also sure he can be cocky at times,but he still has a big and honest heart and he's a great person with a great personality and style.:D

How can you like the school boy outfit over the white jacket and blue jeans introduced in 99 or the badass black leather jacket and jeans in 2k3? The school boy outfit is so cliche and un-original. Kyo wearing casual clothes shows he more mature and not a kid anymore.

Anyways, I pick Kyo over Iori. Kyo is alot more interesting, and his fighting style went through drastic changes over the years, unlike Iori who only recently received a change in fighting style (and outfit). Kyo also has a much more charming personality than Iori. Kyo hates effort, he's a cocky bastard, but he's a nice guy really.

Iori on the other hand, he only got popular because of the upsurge of popularity over "visual kei" in Japan and the whole punk look, not to mention that retarded laugh of his. His fighting style was pretty much made to rival Kyo's moveset in 95, but then Kyo got a revamped moveset to further the gap between them.

Then there is Iori's personality... he's so dull and obsessive. He's always pissed, always swearing he'll kill Kyo despite his complete inability to do so, and the fact he beat up Billy Kane and Eiji Kisaragi at the end of KOF95 is angering enough, along with him supposedly killing Vice and Mature. Then in KOFXI it was revealed Iori smokes cigarettes, so he's automatically un-cool to me.

Iori is a just emo fag. :P

i thought people consider other people who smoke to "look cool".LOL i do like Kyo's 2K3/XI outfit and his outfit in XII,but the school-boy Kyo outfit is just tradition,and it's just Kyo:D.but i was never a fan of the white jacket and jeans sorry.i tried to like it i really did,but i just couldn't.the only thing i like about the outfit is the white jacket,and the shirt under-neath and the necklace and the gloves,but gloves are always cool in my eyes.

I'm glad you understood me although I hadn't expressed what I like about Kyo's personality in detail -I was in a rush :P-; Kyo isn't one who always does the right thing, he fights for justice but apart from that he's a bit of a slacker when it comes to train hard or study, and it's a bit full of himself. He can even be a little naughty when beating up his opponents, a sign of this trait is the sadistic grin on his face during certain techniques, such as the Kamikura or his Hikigane moves.
On a side note, I think Kyo's temper is similar to Ken Master's, and Ken is my favorite Street Fighter character indeed -besides, I pair Kyo with Ken all the time in Capcom VS SNK and Capcom VS SNK 2, that's a burning fighting duo :D

He can even be a little naughty when beating up his opponents, a sign of this trait is the sadistic grin on his face during certain techniques, such as the Kamikura or his Hikigane moves.
